Conditions for extension of visa for overseas 489/491 visa holders:
If the main applicant is from February 1, 2020 to December 14, 2021 (including the day), 489/491 visa holders or former visa holders (whose visas expire outside the country) at any time will be You can get compensation for a 3-year visa extension. You need to be a Visa holder. If the main applicant meets the conditions, the sub-application will also be automatically extended for three years. However, those who have signed these three types of visas overseas or domestically, or those who have all been in Australia during the above-mentioned time periods, are not included. Also because of the visa extension policy, 489 can be up to 7 years (3+4 years), and 491 can be up to 8 years (5+3 years).
Those who have not yet expired 485 overseas can extend until September 30, and need to meet:
- Must be in 485 visa status on December 15, 2021;
- The current 485 visa expires before September 30, 2022;
- At least the main applicant is in Australia when the 485 is signed;
- The main applicant has been outside Australia at any time during the period from February 1, 2020 to December 14, 2021 (including the day)
- 485 visas have not been cancelled on or after December 15, 2021
- No further substantive visas obtained on or after 15 December 2021
Those who have expired 485 overseas can be reactivated until September 30, and need to meet:
- 485 visa expires between February 1, 2020 and December 14, 2021 (inclusive)
- At least the main applicant is in Australia when the 485 is signed
- The main applicant has been outside Australia at any time during the period from February 1, 2020 to December 14, 2021 (including the day)
- The visa has not been cancelled
- No further substantive visas were obtained
